Always wear a buoyancy aid or a life jacket when sailing.
Always wear suitable clothing.
Check weather forecast and tides hours (if applicable).
Make sure somebody knows where you are sailing and how many people are on board.
Do not sail beyond the ability of the crew.
Look out for changing weather.
Conform to sailing rules.
