No compromise
The development of Longtze Premier lasted for 9 months, from February to October 2007.
Longtze Yachts put together a strong technical team with Pierre Mas, Luc Gellusseau, Thierry Barot, Wearn Haw TAN, Wenpei ZHANG, Jue WANG and Charlie Pinot for that specific task.
First, the existing boat was reviewed extensively, with feedback from the sailing tests. Deck changes, mast implantation, cockpit layout, a new spinnaker tube: a good number of changes were decided with two objectives: performance and simplicity. A new set of tooling was built and shipped to China. From May to June, the sail plan and rig were revisited. The objective was to optimize the aerodynamic performance. The mainsail was reshaped with a big square head and a reduced foot. The jib gets a shorter foot as well but with a maximized positive leech curve. A new choice of high tech material was decided. The mast was the object of a great deal of attention to gain stiffness and solidity. As with the deck plan, the hardware for the mast went through a great deal of development. Next stage was the construction at Zou Inter Marine and the tests of the two first prototypes in Qingdao in August and September 2007. Building techniques and quality control were firmly established, thanks to the excellent know how of the boatyard and the permanent support of the Longtze Yachts Technical Team. Sea trials started in Qingdao in the second half of August 2007. The multi world champions, America's Cup sailors sailing team spent hours on the water, testing and improving the boats.
Prototype 2 wins the China Cup 2007
Last stage of the development process. In October 2007, the Prototype n°2 is entered in the China Cup with the standard Racing Sails Package. The boat finishes first in real time and compensate time at three of the four races in the sportboats category.
The final set of developments is decided, from which a new keel shape and a new rudder, for the serial boat. With one objective: offering a one design boat that give you the true pleasure of sailing on a boat carefully designed in every details.
